Roads are getting more dangerous
As a driver you have probably experienced that driving on our roads is getting dangerous.
Have you experienced:
- Angry gestures & yelling
- Aggressive honking
- One vehicle chasing another
- A driver leaving their car to confront someone
- A vehicle trying to stop another vehicle
- An altercation involving a weapon
- A driver physically attacking someone
- A confrontation involving a gun
- Someone firing a gun
According to a survey conducted by Policygenius in 2022, 70% of US drivers have witnessed some form of road rage during the past year.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers the following advice for dealing with dangerously aggressive drivers:
- If you are in the left lane and someone wants to pass, move over and let them by.
- Give speeding drivers plenty of space. Speeding drivers may lose control of their vehicle more easily.
- Adjust your driving accordingly. Speeding is tied to aggressive driving. If a speeding driver is tailgating you or trying to engage you in risky driving, use judgment to safely steer your vehicle out of the way.
- Call the police if you believe a driver is following you or harassing you.
As you drive, follow the tips above and stay safe.
